Gibson Collects Cycle
Saturday, August 4th, 2040
Chris Gibson did everything he could for the Mexico City Cerveceros today -- literally.

The 31-year-old left fielder hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Cerveceros, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Dawsonville Highway 9ers, 17-7, at The Star Zone.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Gibson reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Gibson banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 5 RBI and 4 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Chris Gibson walked in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Wilson Delgado in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th.

So far this season Gibson is batting .342 with 21 home runs.
