Big Bang! 3 HR for Olympia's Mayberry Sunday, July 9th , 2051 Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Marshalls-X-Wings game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball. Olympia first baseman Peter Mayberry thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Olympia to a 20-4 win over Detroit. "Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Mayberry said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run." Mayberry was 3-for-5 on the day with 8 RBI. Peter Mayberry hit a three-run home run off Itbir Mbingu in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Goris Mijsberg in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Page in the 4th and grounded out in the 7th. This season Mayberry has hit 26 home runs and posted a .335 batting average. |
