Joe Cole Strokes 3 Home Runs Sunday, July 9th , 2051 Joe Cole brutalized the Richardson Barons pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 11-9 victory at $5 Footlong Field. The Galveston Tides center fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-5 with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Joe Cole today," Barons manager Alberto Chávez said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Joe Cole struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Curt Robinson in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Curt Robinson in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Bobby Ross in the 9th. Thus far this season Cole is hitting .190 with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 26 hits in 137 at-bats and has played in 42 games. |
