Louisville Bats left fielder Firuz Djidjishvili sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Chapel Hill Sharks, Djidjishvili told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Djidjishvili pushed the Bats past the Sharks, 11-10. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Djidjishvili told reporters after the game.
Firuz Djidjishvili walked in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Sam Smith in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off JĂșlio Cruz in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Elvis Ferris in the 9th.
A look at his current stats shows Djidjishvili with a .344 average, 44 home runs, 99 RBIs and 82 runs scored. He has played in 86 games.
