5-for-5 Day for Wiley
Wednesday, August 6th , 2053
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Ray Wiley said his club's tilt with the Oklahoma City 89ers "felt almost like batting practice." The 23-year-old left fielder went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate.
"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.
However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Mexico City Cerveceros, who were topped by the 89ers, 11-6.
"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Cerveceros manager Floyd Walton said. "Sometimes Ray is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose."
Ray Wiley singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Mitsunari Iwasaki in the 9th.
This season in 105 games, Wiley is batting .358 with 34 home runs, 77 RBIs and has scored 66 times.
