Detroit's Jones Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 28th , 2054
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Detroit's 5-4 win over Chapel Hill, second baseman Matt Jones was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Saddlehorn Stadium.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Jones said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
Matt Jones doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
For the year, Jones is batting .287 with 21 home runs, 63 RBIs and 62 runs scored.
