Quick Hits for the Cycle
Monday, August 3rd , 2054
Nick Quick did everything he could for the Union Township Sodbusters -- literally.

The 22-year-old right fielder hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Sodbusters, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Chapel Hill Sharks, 12-4, at Sharks Stadium.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Quick reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Quick banged out 4 hits in 6 at-bats and totaled 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Nick Quick hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Joe Horton in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

In this current campaign Quick is hitting at a .364 clip with 13 home runs and 37 RBIs.
