Thrice Is Nice: Moore Unloads 3 Homers
Saturday, August 15th , 2054
Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Dan Moore can celebrate.
The Union Township Sodbusters right fielder powered three into the stands at Tug McGraw Stadium against the Santo Domingo Dragons.
"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Moore told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one."
In all, he was 3-for-5 as the Sodbusters toppled Santo Domingo by a score of 14-5, knocking in 8 runs and scoring 3 times.
"He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Union Township manager Osvaldo Cruz said. "He gets the ball up in the air."
Dan Moore grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jorge Marino in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Chris Green in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Steve Allen in the 8th.
So far this season, Moore has put up a .238 batting average with 93 hits, 36 home runs and 86 RBIs.
