3-HR Day for Leroux
Sunday, April 18th , 2055
Carmel Scrappys catcher Dave Leroux put on a dazzling display of power at Augusta-Richmond County Grounds against the Calgary Mounties. In the 28-2 Scrappys victory, Leroux penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Calgary manager Manuel Ortega said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Leroux said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Dave Leroux hit a solo-shot off Manny RodrÃguez in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Adam Williams in the 3rd, was hit by a pitch in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Roberto Aguirre in the 6th, walked in the 7th, struck out in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
At the moment, Leroux is hitting .300 with 7 home runs and 20 RBIs. He has played in 15 games and scored 15 times.
