Carlin Bashes 3 HR for Surrey
Wednesday, June 4th , 2053
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.
It happened at Pride Field, as Jorge Carlin of the Surrey Sinners unloaded three times against the Cincinnati Pride but was still bumped off, 13-11, by the Pride.
"We were lucky to win today," said Cincinnati skipper Dwight Henderson. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."
For the game, the Surrey first baseman had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 3.
Carlin spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.
"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
Jorge Carlin hit a solo-shot off Stanford Brewer in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Héctor Murillo in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Sergio Maes in the 8th.
Thus far in 2053, Carlin is hitting .289 with 20 home runs, 46 RBIs, 47 runs scored and has compiled a .426 OBP.
