Arden Goes Yard 3 Times

It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.

It happened at Filibertos Field today, as Nick Arden of the Chula Vista Tacos unloaded three times against the Colorado Commanders but was still bumped off 8-7 by the Commanders.

"We were lucky to win today," said Colorado skipper Ricardo Gómes. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."

For the game, the Chula Vista first baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 5.

Arden spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.

"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

Nick Arden flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Juan Ledesma in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Juan Ledesma in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Joe Cooper in the 9th.

Arden is currently batting .356 with 12 home runs, 28 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has 31 hits in 87 at-bats.
