The Eau Claire Esquires first baseman crushed three into the stands at Legion Ball Park in a remarkable performance, propelling the Esquires to a win, 13-12, over the Del Mar Racers. "If you want to get paid in this league, you've gotta earn it," he said later. "I earned my paycheck today." He tagged 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 4 runs and scored 4 times. "We made three mistakes and he made us pay each time," Del Mar manager Ron Bartlett said later.
