17-K Game for Spikes Starkweather
Thursday, August 10th , 2051
Led by an outstanding performance from starter Steve Starkweather, the State College Spikes topped the Nashua Redlegs today by a score of 9-2 at Dirty South Park. The 24-year-old Starkweather brought his top game to the mound, striking out 17 batters while allowing 7 hits and giving up no walks.
"He made a lot of good pitches out there," Redlegs manager Andrés Macías said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes."
This year State College reliever Starkweather has made 25 relief appearances and has 2 saves. His record is 3-3 with 67 strikeouts in 43.1 innings and a 4.98 ERA.
