Bullpen Ace Wins Best NL Pitcher
Thursday, September 1st, 2039
"The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we might have to start inviting him out with us after the games."
Miguel Báez put together a very solid month to take home the National League's top pitching honor in August.
The 21-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 10 relief appearances he raked in 2 saves and 29 strikeouts in 19.2 innings as he put together his 6-0 record and 1.83 ERA.
This season Báez has earned 2 saves, tossed 35 innings, made 15 relief appearances, fanned 52 hitters and posted an ERA of 4.37. Teams are hitting .221 against him.
