Schmidt Rocks Hammerheads for 3 HRs Saturday, August 19th , 2051 Savannah left fielder Jeremy Schmidt blasted three homers today at Augusta-Richmond County Grounds in the 16-5 Hogs victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads. For the game, Jeremy Schmidt scored 3 times and knocked in 7 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Schmidt when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 4-for-5, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Schmidt told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." Jeremy Schmidt hit a solo-shot off Scott Cook in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Scott Cook in the 5th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Júlio Heredia in the 9th. This season Schmidt is hitting .293 with 10 home runs. |
