Fighting Irish Chill Tate Hot Streak
Monday, April 26th , 2055
Baylor second baseman Ken Tate came into today's game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Fighting Irish did their jobs well, beating the Baylor Bears, 9-7, and holding Tate hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 19-year-old second baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-1, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Ken did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Bears manager Mike Harris. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Tate on the season is hitting .435 with 19 home runs. His stats include 49 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
