Saturday, May 8th , 2055
In a powerful performance that left the fans at Dudy Noble Field buzzing, Mississippi State Bulldogs catcher Jeff King blasted a trio of home runs en route to a win, 18-1, over the West Virginia Mountaineers.
"Everything was clicking," King told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them."
King shined brilliantly in the win, with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Bulldogs manager José López said. "Jeff played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game."
Jeff King hit a two-run home run off Christian Smiley in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Wilber Glenn in the 5th and hit a three-run home run off Will Newlin in the 6th.
A look at his current stats shows King with a .331 average, 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has played in 35 games.
