Cougars Méndez Booms 3 HRs Monday, May 10th , 2055 Washington State Cougars bombardier Raúl Méndez set his sights on the stands and blasted three balls over the fence as his club beat the Kansas State Wildcats, 12-7. "I guess you could say I was a good guesser today, especially on the last one," Méndez told writers in the postgame press room. "I was ahead in the count, so I gambled that I'd get a certain pitch, and got all of it." For the game, the Washington State second baseman had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 7, and scored 4 runs. Raúl Méndez walked in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Mel Squarebriggs in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Doug Cobb in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Phil Whaley in the 9th.
