Maryland Silences Louisville, 9-0
Tuesday, May 11th , 2055
The Louisville Cardinals ran into a buzzsaw at Shipley Field, as Maryland Terrapins starter Rick González cut them down to size, 9-0, tossing a 7-hit shutout.
"That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," Terrapins manager Tim Chambers told reporters after the game. "Rick knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game win, the Maryland hurler doled out 3 walks and registered 11 strikeouts.
So far in 9 appearances this season, González has recorded 4 wins and sustained 3 losses. He has pitched 65 innings, yielded 66 hits, fanned 65 and has a 3.88 ERA.
