Wilson Cracks 3 HRs for Michigan
Wednesday, May 19th , 2055
Bryce Wilson of the Wolverines won the battle against Auburn pitching, but lost the war. He hit three out of the park at Ray Fisher Stadium, got his name in the league record book, but Michigan came up short in the win column, losing to the Tigers, 16-9. The Michigan second baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploded off his bat all day long.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said. "I try to go out there and have good at-bats. If I put a good swing on the ball, then it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one. I just try to have good at-bats."
For the game, the 19-year old second baseman Wilson went 3 for 6 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Where does he rank this day in his career? "It's up there," Wilson said. "I'll put it up there in the upper echelon, despite the loss."
Bryce Wilson hit a solo-shot off Bobby Courtney in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Bobby Courtney in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Richard Lyons in the 9th.
Thus far this season in 49 games, Wilson is batting .296 with 12 home runs, 34 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 63 hits in 213 at-bats.
