Virginia Tech Wins 2043 National Championship! Tuesday, June 9th , 2043 It was all about winning for the Virginia Tech Hokies -- and win they did. There was nothing fancy in how they went about it, players said, they just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball. "We did the little things right and we did the big things right," said starting pitcher Denny Carpenter, who was named series MVP. "Now we're the league champions." Virginia Tech defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers by a score of 4-1 at English Field to take the series 2-1. "Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck," said Virginia Tech manager Lance Powell.
