Cardinal Cruise to Elite 8 with Sweep Tuesday, May 26th , 2054 The Stanford Cardinal have swept the Vanderbilt Commodores and are on to the Elite 8. Stanford won 13-7 today at Sunken Diamond to clinch the Sweet Sixteen. "We're happy to have put the dagger in when we had the chance," said Stanford first baseman Don Everhart, who was named MVP for the series. "It could have been a tough series to finish if we let them start winning." Everhart won the award with a .714 batting average and a .778 on-base percentage.
