Cavaliers Heading to Final Four Saturday, May 30th , 2054 The Virginia Cavaliers and Mississippi Rebels put on a classic Elite 8 that was in question until the final game. In the end, Virginia won the deciding contest by a score of 6-5, to take the series 2-1. "It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said John Thorton, who earned series MVP honors for Virginia. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now." For the series, Thorton hit .538 with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 2 runs.
