Gómez Tags 3 HR Against Gamecocks Friday, April 3rd , 2054 Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Fighting Irish-Gamecocks game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball. Notre Dame shortstop Roberto Gómez thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Notre Dame to a win, 7-1, over South Carolina. "Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Gómez said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run." Gómez was 4-for-5 on the day with 5 RBI. Roberto Gómez doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off David Hester in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off David Hester in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Glenn Francis in the 9th. Currently Gómez has 4 home runs and a .357 batting average. |
