Pérez Tags Red Raiders for 5 Hits
Sunday, April 12th , 2054
It was a high-five day for Rafael Pérez, at least for a while.
The Texas left fielder got plenty of them from his teammates when he reached the five-hit milestone during today's game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but they were in short supply at the end, as Texas Tech won the game, 10-9. Pérez finished with an impressive 5-for-5 line, but the Longhorns couldn't hold off the Red Raiders.
"Rafael was hitting everything," said Longhorns manager José Mercado. "It's too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion."
Rafael Pérez hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Benjamin Rigsby in the 8th.
So far this year, Pérez has hit .288 with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
