Sweet Sixteen Goes the Distance, Texas Prevails Friday, May 27th , 2050 Mark one up for the Texas Longhorns. In the crucial final game, they put away the Providence Friars 4-3 at Jaspers Ballpark to win the Sweet Sixteen, 2-1 and advance to the Elite 8. Although his team came up short, Providence's Martin Allen was named the series MVP, with many of the league media feeling the series would have been over much sooner if not for his contributions. "Allen did a lot to keep Providence in it, no doubt about that," said Longhorns manager Drake Williams. The Elite 8 matchups and schedule will be announced after the Sweet Sixteen finishes.
