Red-Hot Edwards Scorches Wildcats Saturday, May 2nd , 2054 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Carroll Edwards. Edwards went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Kentucky pitchers. When the dust settled on the diamond at Carolina Stadium, he had a 5-for-5 line and a day he will long remember. And the South Carolina Gamecocks had a win, 11-8, over the Wildcats. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview. Carroll Edwards hit a solo-shot off Randy Shattuck in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Randy Shattuck in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
