Nelson Sticks It to NCAA Pitchers Monday, May 18th , 2054 19-year-old Joe Nelson made a few Louisville headlines during this past week as the rookie left fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and College Baseball officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 16 hits in 25 at-bats to put up a .640 average. Nelson collected 8 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 17 runs. So far this season, Nelson has recorded a .373 batting average with 63 hits, 15 home runs, 34 RBIs, 56 runs scored and a .498 OBP. |
