Mountaineers Rose Tames Southern California Tuesday, April 4th , 2051 Nathan Rose of the West Virginia Mountaineers was on top of his game today. The 18-year-old tantalized the Southern California Trojans with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 8-0 shutout. "He had the changeup working," Southern California manager Álex Hernández said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The West Virginia hurler had 9 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.
