Hits Blitz for Tar Heels Woods Friday, April 21st , 2051 Jerry Woods accomplished one of the rarer feats in baseball today when he hit for the cycle against the Louisiana State Tigers in the 7-6 North Carolina Tar Heels win at Alex Box Stadium. Afterward, Woods acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but said he was more interested in helping the Tar Heels win. "Maybe one day I'll look back on this with more meaning, but right now I just want to go out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball and help my club win another game," Woods said. On his historic day, he went 5-for-6 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the history books. Jerry Woods doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Pedro Rúbio in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 8th and grounded out in the 10th.
