Going, Going, Gone! Hoagland Hits 3 Homers Sunday, April 23rd , 2051 Mississippi State Bulldogs center fielder Carlton Hoagland had a magnificent game against the Louisville Cardinals today, rocketing three balls out of Jim Patterson Stadium to help the Bulldogs take the 7-1 victory. "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes." For the game, Hoagland went 3-for-4 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Mississippi State manager Marc O'Dwyer said later. "Seems like Carlton found his home run stroke today." Carlton Hoagland flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Phil Turner in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Phil Turner in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Phil Turner in the 7th. This year Hoagland is hitting .349, produced 16 RBIs and 8 home runs, scored 20 times and gotten on base at a .417 rate. |
