Almendro Goes 5-for-5
Thursday, April 24th , 2053
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Creighton's 5-0 win over Indiana, second baseman Rúbem Almendro was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Bass Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Almendro said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
Rúbem Almendro doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
This season in 24 games, Almendro is batting .258 with no home runs, 4 RBIs and has scored 12 times.
