AWL's Best Player Selected, It's Thirlwell
Wednesday, February 9th , 2050
At the age of 21, Chris Thirlwell of the Mesa Solar Sox could very well have his best years ahead of him.

It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2050 was good enough to win the second baseman the Arizona Winter League AWL Most Valuable Player.

"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."

The top hitter put up a .333 batting average this year, as well as a .381 on-base percentage. He played 28 games and racked up 35 hits, 9 doubles, no triples, 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

He received 7 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jesús Ramos of the Surprise Saguaros finished second in voting, while Zander Hill of the Grand Canyon Antelopes finished third.
