Admirals Lose By a Run at Irvine, 4-3
|
Irvine third baseman Jack Cook made his presence felt in the 4-3 Gang Green triumph over the Seattle Admirals. Cook was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Tyson Patton. He's now 10-7. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits for the Gang Green. Rich Cervantes, credited with the save, is now 27 for 30 in save opportunities.
Cook contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Irvine in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Cook took a sinker from Junior Limond and stroked the home run to right-center. His 24th home run of the season allowed the Gang Green to leap in front, 2-1.
After the game, Irvine manager David Adams applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Irvine improves to 70-47 with the win. They lead their division by 3½ games.
