The Montreal Royales defeated the Lubbock Green Sox, 5-3, at Greener Pastures. Montreal was led by four-time Gold Glove Award winner Mauro Gonzáles, who went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Júlio Dávila, who is a two-time All-Star, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. The Royales improved their record to 58-67 with the win over Lubbock.
With Montreal leading 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Gonzáles hit a 2-run single off Lubbock hurler Sergio Suárez. It was the 104th hit of the season for Gonzáles and put his team ahead, 5-2.
