"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Thomas Fleming of the Bishop Verot HS Mudcats proved the point at Ballpark of Bethlehem HS today, holding the Temiskaming District Secondary School Saints to 4 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Fleming made us look real bad today," Saints manager Denis Stewart said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Fleming had 7 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk as the Mudcats took the 5-0 win.

In 6 starts this season Fleming has chalked up a 4-1 record and a 2.93 ERA.
