Wildcats Halt Lyons Hit Streak
Friday, April 30th , 2055
It was the best of both worlds for the Villanova Wildcats at Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth, as they defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 8-7, and also snapped Harvey Lyons's 21-game hitting streak. The 19-year-old Rutgers first baseman failed to get a hit in 1 at-bat.
"Nothing personal against Lyons, we just wanted to win the game," said Wildcats skipper Stan Bates. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Lyons frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
This season, Lyons is swinging the bat at a .425 pace. He has hit 8 home runs and scored 23 times, while driving in 25. His on-base percentage is .500 and he has played in 31 games.
