6-for-6 Day for Cooper
Saturday, May 30th , 2054
Purdue Boilermakers second baseman Paul Cooper had a day to remember at Jack Kaiser Stadium, ripping apart the Saint John's Red Storm and sparking the 13-2 Boilermakers win.
Cooper wrote his name in the record books with a 6-hit barrage, finishing his special day 6-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Cooper told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Paul Cooper singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Michael Brooks in the 9th.
Cooper is currently batting .209 with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs.
