5-Hit Blitz by Iowa's McDermott Monday, May 16th , 2050 It was a sensational day at the plate for Clark McDermott as he led the charge to a 16-15 win over the Tigers. The Iowa first baseman was pure misery for the Clemson pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "McDermott put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Joel Lancaster, manager for the Tigers, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Clark McDermott singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Matt Clark in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Matt Clark in the 11th.
