Cavaliers Shut Out Tigers, Blanchard Winner
Tuesday, May 2nd , 2051
There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching.

Jeannot Blanchard of the Virginia Cavaliers blanked the Clemson Tigers, 3-0, at Doug Kingsmore Stadium today, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 3-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles.

"I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Blanchard said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."

Blanchard walked 4 and struck out 10 in the victory.

"He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Tigers manager Joel Lancaster said later.

To date this year, Blanchard shows a 3-1 record, 7 starts, 54.1 innings, 42 strikeouts and a 2.82 ERA.
