Season-Ending Injury for Rich Martin
Sunday, May 7th , 2051
Des Moines HS closer Rich Martin could miss the remainder of the season because of a damaged elbow ligament. He exited yesterday's Tulsa HS game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Martin would be out 12 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."

This year in 17 relief appearances, Martin has collected 1 save while posting an ERA of 7.40 and 23 strikeouts in 24.1 innings. His totals for the year also include 3 wins and 1 loss.
