24-Game Streak Ends, Hughes Hitless
Sunday, April 25th , 2055
Joliet HS second baseman Ambrose Hughes went 0-for-3 in Joliet HS's 14-5 triumph over the Planview JFK HS Hawks, snapping his 24-game hitting streak.

Hughes spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later."

"I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though."

When Hughes made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending.

"There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Hawks manager Ramiro Martínez said of Hughes's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."

Hughes is hitting .387 this year with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has 41 hits in 106 at-bats, 18 walks and a .477 on-base percentage. Hughes has played in 26 games.
