Sunday, May 9th , 2055
The Temiskaming District Secondary School Saints downed the Fresno HS Red Wings, 25-5, at Red Wings Ballpark, in spite of the best efforts of Fresno HS first baseman Anthony Blackett. Blackett lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-6 line -- and a loss.
"I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter."
Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Saints face Blackett, Temiskaming District Secondary School manager Les Johnston said "absolutely not."
"Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better."
Anthony Blackett struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Blackett is swinging the bat at a .283 pace. He has hit 1 home run and scored 7 times, while driving in 15. His on-base percentage is .347 and he has played in 28 games.
