Top 8 Round Goes the Distance, Shelby HS Prevails Wednesday, May 19th , 2055 High School Stars League fans were certainly not disappointed with this High School NL Top 8 Round. The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Shelby HS Rockets prevailing over the Newport News HS Paints to advance to the Top 4 Round. Shelby HS won the final game by a score of 9-3 at Havoc Stadium and that sealed the series 3-2. "Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said third baseman Paul Ladner, who earned MVP honors. For the series, Ladner hit .474 with a .545 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Shelby HS Rockets will play against the Grand Rapids HS Summit in the next round.
