Vinson Torches Hornets for 5 Hits Sunday, May 7th , 2056 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Vern Vinson is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the Bryant HS Hornets at Ballpark of Novato HS. The monster effort from the 17-year-old center fielder helped the Aurora HS Black Bears get the win, 16-10. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Hornets manager Rob Lynch. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Vern Vinson singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Ray Beltrán in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Anthony Hern in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. So far in 2056 Vinson is batting .301 with 12 home runs, 29 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has 43 hits in 143 at-bats and a .413 OBP. View Boxscore View Game Log |
