Great Day for Goodman -- 5 Hits Monday, April 6th , 2054 Even as a kid, Leo Goodman said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Fort Worth HS Grounds, Goodman showed how well he learned that lesson. The 14-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Fort Worth HS Turkeys, helping his team knock off the Sarcoxie HS Bears by a score of 18-16. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Leo Goodman singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Donald O'Slattery in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jimmy Clark in the 5th, singled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
