In an unforgettable performance, the 15-year-old Battle fanned 19 Braves and sparked the 7-0 Plumstead Christian HS Panthers victory over Santa Ana HS. He left Braves hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Plumstead Christian HS manager Rafael Sánchez. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 19 strikeouts over 8.2 innings, Battle allowed 7 hits and 1 walk in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Battle said with a smile.
