3-HR Dream Game for King
Monday, April 13th , 2054
Jeffrey King of the Threshers won the battle against Planview JFK HS pitching, but lost the war. He hit three out of the park at Threshers Ballpark, got his name in the league record book, but Broken Arrow HS came up short in the win column, losing to the Hawks, 12-11. The Broken Arrow HS right fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploded off his bat all day long.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said. "I try to go out there and have good at-bats. If I put a good swing on the ball, then it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one. I just try to have good at-bats."
For the game, the 16-year old right fielder King went 3 for 4 with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Where does he rank this day in his career? "It's up there," King said. "I'll put it up there in the upper echelon, despite the loss."
Jeffrey King walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Israel Gonzáles in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Israel Gonzáles in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Orlando Pinto in the 9th.
Looking at his season stats, King has compiled a .358 batting average and a .507 on-base percentage, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 17 runs.
