Roberts Cracks 3 HRs for Planview JFK HS Saturday, May 9th , 2054 Doug Roberts of the Hawks won the battle against Oliver Ames HS pitching, but lost the war. He hit three out of the park at Carbines Ballpark, got his name in the league record book, but Planview JFK HS came up short in the win column, losing to the Tigers, 13-12. The Planview JFK HS left fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploded off his bat all day long. "I don't try to hit homers," he said. "I try to go out there and have good at-bats. If I put a good swing on the ball, then it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one. I just try to have good at-bats." For the game, the 14-year old left fielder Roberts went 3 for 5 with 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Where does he rank this day in his career? "It's up there," Roberts said. "I'll put it up there in the upper echelon, despite the loss."
