Big 3-HR Day for Lewis Friday, April 7th , 2051 Brookline HS Warriors first baseman Mike Lewis sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Oxnard HS Sailfish, Lewis told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Lewis pushed the Warriors past the Sailfish, 12-2. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Lewis told reporters after the game. Mike Lewis hit a two-run home run off Barry Potts in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Barry Potts in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Flint González in the 7th and struck out in the 8th. So far on the season Lewis is hitting .237 with 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 9 hits and played in 11 games. |
